As the third largest university in Texas, the University of North Texas (UNT) has more than 45,000 students enrolled. This large student population draws events throughout the academic year such as speaker series, admission tours, philanthropies, and graduations. Managing the parking for each event proved to be a challenge, however.
UNT’s events require hourly parking to complement their permit parking for staff, faculty, and students. Due to different departments handling these events, the university had to bill each one separately. Their old operator struggled to keep up with this and were unresponsive when issues arose.
UNT contracted Premium Parking to handle their hourly parking at 26 locations across campus. At each
parking lot or garage, new CameraPay® signs were installed that match the university’s branding. With
Premium’s innovative platform, the university can bill departments separately through Departmental
Business Account functionality. This integrates with their financial systems and gives staff accurate
financial reporting.
Since going live with Premium in January of 2025, the University of North Texas has generated more than $500,000 in revenue. This can be attributed to the simple method of payment and the ability to enforce parking during events as payment is tied to license plates. Additionally, the new platform has eliminated the manual processes of billing each department separately. Now, the University of North Texas has a parking solution that works for both its staff and visitors.
