Located in Norwalk, Connecticut, The SoNo Collection by Brookfield Properties is a high-end shopping mall that is only a one-hour drive from New York City. With Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s as its anchor stores, the mall is a popular destination for southern Connecticut residents and those in the NYC metro area. Before it could open, the SoNo Collection needed a parking solution that would work to create a seamless experience for its shoppers.
During its development, The SoNo Collection was set to open with thousands of parking spots across a multiple floor garage. With an expected high volume, they wanted their guests to spend less time parking and more time inside the mall. Additionally, they wanted to minimize maintenance delays and costs.
Premium Parking was selected for its full-stack, Free Flow solution. Rather than work with a different operator for payments and enforcement, Premium handles everything in one platform. Additionally, gateless meant both The SoNo Collection’s startup and future maintenance costs are significantly lower than if they had opted for a gate. This solution also allows for quicker ingress times, resulting in more shoppers inside the mall for longer periods of time. A full-stack, Free Flow solution means there are less points of failure and little to no downtime for repairs.
After going live with Premium Parking in 2019, The SoNo Collection has generated nearly $8 million in parking revenue. This can be attributed to the multiple payment options for guests, including CameraPay® signs, TextPay®, Premium’s mobile app, and pay machines located near the entrances. The ease of use for shoppers and low maintenance costs has resulted in an elevated shopping experience at The SoNo Collection.
